What to watch on the AED to PKR route

The advertised fee is rarely the real cost. On this corridor the exchange-rate markup typically runs from near zero with Revolut up to around 4% with a high-street bank wire — on a 1,000 AED transfer that gap is roughly 40 AED, repeated every time you send.

Three things change the total on a Pakistan transfer. First, delivery method: a bank deposit is usually cheaper than cash pickup or a mobile wallet. Second, funding method: paying by card is charged as a cash advance by many banks, while a direct debit or bank transfer is normally free. Third, the receiving side: a SWIFT wire can be trimmed by a correspondent bank before it lands, which is why the amount received sometimes falls short of the quote.

If you send to Pakistan regularly, check the rate before sending rather than after. Rates move daily, and a 1% move on a monthly transfer outweighs most fee differences over a year.
